====== MP STUDIO 2 Phase 6 · Check, Communication and Download ====== 한국어 | **English** The ladder you write is converted into device code and downloaded to the device. This page describes the program check to look at before downloading, the communication port settings, downloading and checking the firmware, and checking the mnemonics and program memory. ===== Program Check ===== MP STUDIO 2 checks the whole program every time you edit it. The results appear on the canvas right away, without a separate compile step. * **① Error cell (red):** a problem that prevents downloading. Examples: an address the model does not have (P200 in the figure), an address outside the data memory size, or a function argument with the wrong data type. * **② Warning (orange address text):** a cell that can be downloaded but whose behavior you should check. P1 in the figure is a row that does not end in a coil or function, so it does nothing. * If **Check for duplicate coils** is turned on in **Setting → Option → Grid**, a coil address used twice is shown as an error cell. * Select a cell to see the reason for the problem at the bottom of the Inspector, or hover over it to see the reason in a tooltip. The status pills show **Check OK** or **N cells with errors · N warnings**. ^ Shortcut ^ Menu ^ Action ^ | Ctrl+. / Ctrl+, | Search → Next Error / Previous Error | Moves between error cells. | | Alt+. / Alt+, | Search → Next Warning / Previous Warning | Moves between warning cells. | While there are error cells, you can neither download nor monitor. Correct all error cells before downloading. ===== Communication Port ===== Select **Setting → Communication Port** or click the **Communication** button in the top band to open the **Communication Setting** window. The upper part is the link used for downloading, and the lower part is the communication settings of the device's serial channels. ==== Download Channel ==== * **① Channel:** choose a COM port of the PC or ETHERNET. The list shows each COM number together with the device name. Click the button on the right to read the PC's COM port list again. * **② IP Address and Port Number:** when ETHERNET is selected, enter the IP address of the device (for example 192.168.0.123) and the port number. Ethernet download is available when the device supports an Ethernet connection. Check the product page to see whether your device supports it. ==== Serial Channels ==== Choose a channel in the **③ Serial 1, Serial 2 and Serial 3** tabs, then set **④ the communication parameters** and **⑤ the Mode**. The number of channels depends on the model. MPS-8A4R(T)-S, MPS-8A8R(T)-S, MPS-16A8R(T)-R2 and MPS-16A16R(T) have only Serial 1. ^ Item ^ Choices ^ | Mode | Normal · Modbus RTU Slave · Cubloc Modbus RTU Slave · CNET (XBC/LINK) · IBUS Master · IBUS Slave · Modbus RTU Master | | Baud Rate | 2400 · 4800 · 9600 · 14400 · 19200 · 28800 · 38400 · 57600 · 76800 · 115200 | | Data Bits, Parity, Stop Bits | Set them to match the device you connect to. | | Slave ID | The station number of this device in a slave mode. | | ⑥ Use this channel for download | When on, programs can be downloaded through this channel. The baud rate must then be 115200. | The baud rate, data bits, parity and stop bits must match the device at the other end. A Modbus RTU Master channel cannot be used for downloading, so turn off **Use this channel for download** for it. The Modbus master list is described in Phase 9 · Modbus RTU Master. ===== Ethernet Connection ===== When the download channel is ETHERNET, a **Connect** button appears in the top band. - Click **Connect** or select **Run → Connect**. - When the device pill shows **Ethernet connected · IP:port**, the connection is made. The button changes to **Disconnect**. - To disconnect, click **Disconnect**. Serial (COM) channels do not need a separate connection. The port is opened for each download or monitoring command. ===== Download ===== - Make sure there are no error cells. - Click **Download** in the top band or select **Run → Download** (Ctrl+T). - Watch the progress in the progress window. Do not turn off the device or disconnect the cable during the transfer. - When the **Download complete** window appears, click **OK**, or click **Monitoring** to start monitoring right away. * If you download while monitoring, monitoring is turned off before the download. You can turn it back on with **Monitoring** in the completion window. * If the firmware version of the device differs from the version MP STUDIO 2 requires, a window asking whether to update the firmware is shown. * If you edit the ladder after downloading, the device pill shows **Device program differs** while monitoring. > **Caution:** Ctrl+T and **Download** in the cell menu download immediately, without a confirmation window. If the device is connected to running equipment, its outputs may change, so put the equipment in a safe state before you continue. ===== Firmware Version and Firmware Download ===== Select **Run → Firmware Version** to read the firmware version of the connected device. A notice such as **The firmware version is 0.2.6.** appears at the bottom right of the screen. While monitoring, the status pills also show the firmware version (**FW**). **Run → Firmware Download** updates the firmware of the device. Use it when a window asking you to update the firmware appears during a download. Do not turn off the device or disconnect the cable while the firmware is being updated. ===== Mnemonic Conversion ===== Select **Run → Mnemonic** or click the **Mnemonic** button in the top band to open the **Mnemonic Viewer** window, which shows the ladder converted into a list of instructions (mnemonics). * Click **① a mnemonic line** to move the cursor to **② the ladder cell** that produced it. The figure shows the AND NOT P1 line clicked, moving to the P1 (NC) cell. * On a ladder cell, select **Search → Show in Mnemonic** to highlight the mnemonic lines produced by that cell. * Click **③ Copy** to copy all mnemonics to the clipboard. ===== Program Memory ===== Select **Run → Program Memory** to convert the current program into device code and show how much of the device's program memory is left. If the program exceeds the capacity, the number of excess bytes is shown, and you cannot download in that state. ===== Clear EEPROM ===== **Run → Clear EEPROM** erases all retentive (EEPROM) values in the device. Erased values cannot be restored, so a confirmation window is shown before it runs. This command is available only on a serial (COM) download channel. ===== Related Pages ===== * Phase 7 · Monitoring and the Data Table * Phase 10 · Troubleshooting ← Back to the MP STUDIO 2 User Manual
