I/O Wiring Guidelines
Incorrect wiring can damage the product or cause equipment malfunction. Always consult both the manual and terminal diagram for the selected product.
General Procedure
- Disconnect all power sources.
- Check the model, terminal names, power polarity, and COM groups.
- Check input-signal and output-load ratings.
- Set the DIP switches and jumpers.
- Disconnect the load and first check the program and a single I/O channel.
- Connect the final load and test interlocks and emergency stops.
Digital inputs
MPAINO digital input modules pass DC 5~24V signals to the MCU through optocouplers and include pull-down resistors. Use INPUT in software.
MPINO input terminals, COM groups, and NPN/PNP wiring support may vary by model. Check the manual for your product.
Relay outputs
Relay outputs open and close load circuits through separate contacts.
- Do not equate the relay component's maximum rating with the current limits of the product terminals and COM.
- Account for inrush current and back EMF from motors, solenoids, and contactor coils.
- Consider a diode for DC coils, and a suitable snubber or protective device for AC loads.
- Do not rely solely on one relay and the program to disconnect loads affecting personal or equipment safety.
Transistor outputs
MPAINO transistor outputs use an N-CH FET SINK configuration.
External supply (+) ── Load ── Output terminal External supply (-) ───────── COM/GND
The output terminal is not a voltage source. Check the external supply, load polarity, and COM wiring. Add back-EMF protection for inductive loads.
Analog Input X
The MPAINO X module uses ADS1118. Select one of the following input types with the DIP switches.
- DC 0~5V
- DC 0~10V
- 0~20mA
- NTC temperature sensor
Turn off the power before setting DIP switches to change the input type. Do not connect a current signal to a voltage input or configure the reverse combination.
Analog Output Y
The Y module smooths MCU PWM into a DC signal. Select 0~5V, 0~10V, or 0~20mA output with the DIP switches. Before connecting, check the receiving equipment's input type, common potential, and load conditions.
PT100 Input F
The F module uses ADS1118 and accepts 2-wire or 3-wire PT100 sensors. Check sensor wiring and terminal order in the module manual.
Communication Wiring
RS-232, RS-485, and TTL UART have different electrical specifications. Do not connect them directly to one another merely because they are all serial interfaces. For RS-485, review A/B polarity, termination, grounding, and communication settings across the entire system.
