MPINO STUDIO 2 Phase 1 · Create Your First Project
This document is for first-time MPINO Studio 2 users. You will create a ladder circuit in which output P32 turns ON while input P0 is ON, then build, upload, and monitor the project.

1. Before You Begin
Prepare the following items.
- A PC with MPINO Studio 2 installed
- An MPINO-8A4R(T)-S board
- An MP download cable
- A P0 input signal wired according to the product manual if you will perform the live input test
For the first test, complete programming and uploading with the output load disconnected.
2. Initial Screen
MPINO Studio 2 opens ① an Untitled project that you can edit immediately. The Explorer already contains ② the main code tab and ③ the ladderLoop ladder tab.
On the first launch, a notice about automatic error reporting appears once. Read the notice and select OK to close it. You can later change this option under Settings → General → Send error reports automatically.
3. Learn the Six Screen Areas
Identify these areas before editing the project.
- ① Menu bar: File, Edit, View, Run, Settings, and Help
- ② Activity bar: Explorer, board and memory information, ladder tools, symbols, Serial Monitor, and settings
- ③ Sidebar: Project and board information for the selected activity
- ④ Editor: Arduino C code or ladder circuit editor
- ⑤ Bottom panel: Build output, problems, mnemonic view, and Serial Monitor
- ⑥ Status bar: Current status and port selector
⑦ Ready at the lower left is a static label. Use ⑧ Select Port at the lower right to choose the serial port for uploading.
4. Create a Project and Select the Board
- Select File → New, or press
Ctrl+N. - If the current project contains unsaved changes, choose whether to continue in the confirmation window.
- In the board selection window, select ① the MPINO-8A4R(T)-S card.
- Choose ② Select, press
Enteron the card, or double-click it. PressEscto cancel. - When the new project opens, press
Ctrl+Sto choose its name and save location.
Selecting the board does not create a file on disk. The name and location of the .mp2 project file are set when you save it.
5. Place the P0 Contact and P32 Coil
In the Explorer, select ① Ladder → ladderLoop. Select a grid cell first, then use a toolbar button or function key to place an element in that cell.
- Select row 1, column 1, then choose ② NO contact or press
F2. - Select row 1, column 2, then choose ③ output coil or press

Enteron ④ the first cell or double-click it, then enterP0as the address. - Press
Enteron ⑤ the second cell or double-click it, then enterP32as the address. - Confirm that your screen matches the figure below.
Press Enter on ① the selected cell, or double-click it, to open the edit window. Enter the value in ② the address field, then choose ③ OK. Contacts and coils use the same style of input window, so check the selected cell and address before confirming.
Common Ladder Tools

F12 | Falling edge | Turns ON for one scan when the state changes from ON to OFF. |
Ctrl+Enter | Box function | Places a box function such as a timer or counter. |
This tutorial uses only F2 and F9. The completed circuit turns P32 ON while P0 is ON.
6. How the Ladder Runs as Arduino C Code
During a build, MPINO Studio 2 converts the ladder data in the .mp2 project into C code and compiles it with the Arduino toolchain. The ladderLoop tab becomes the ladderLoop() function.

When ladderLoop() runs, the ladder logic you created runs. Therefore, it must be called from loop().
7. Build the Project
- Select Run → Build, or press
Ctrl+R. - Confirm that the bottom panel switches to ① Build Output.
- Wait for the compilation log to finish.
- The build succeeded if the final line contains ②
[arduino-cli exit 0].
If the build fails, start with the error summary and the last part of the log. Check the selected board, cell addresses, and code syntax in that order.
8. Select a Port and Upload
Caution: Uploading does not start until a port is selected.
- Connect the board to the PC with the MP download cable.
- Select ① Select Port at the right side of the status bar.
- Choose the required port, such as
COM3, from ② the open port list. - Select Run → Upload, or press
Ctrl+U. - Confirm that the upload log continues below the build log and ends normally.
The port list refreshes automatically when the drop-down opens. You can cancel an upload from the bottom panel while it is running.
9. Verify Operation
Serial Monitor
Select ① Serial Monitor in the Activity bar. Choose ② the baud rate and ③ character encoding, then select ④ Connect. Use ⑤ the ASCII/HEX control to change the display mode, and check ⑥ the connection state at the right.
Real-Time Ladder Monitoring
Before using real-time monitoring, select a communication port under Settings → Ladder Settings → Monitoring Port, then build and upload again. After that, press Ctrl+M or select ① Monitoring ON in the ladder view.
When a physical input signal reaches P0, ② the P0 contact and ③ the P32 coil are highlighted. Press Esc to stop monitoring.

11. Completion Checklist
You have completed Phase 1 when all of the following are true.
- You saved the
.mp2project. - MPINO-8A4R(T)-S is selected as the board.
- The first row of
ladderLoopcontains theP0contact andP32coil. - The build log ends with
arduino-cli exit 0. - You selected the correct port and uploaded the project.
- The P32 coil's monitoring state changes with the P0 input.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | What to check |

| Upload stops immediately. | Make sure a port is selected in the status bar. |
| P0 or P32 does not behave as expected. | Check that the selected board matches the physical product and that both cell addresses are correct. |
| The ladder does not show energized elements. | Set the monitoring port, then build and upload the project again. |
| The build fails. | Read the last error in Build Output and check the main code syntax. |
